Hello, my fellow Horse Lovers!

Hair, makeup, what to wear, how to pose- it's a lot to consider! Depending on your preferences and vision, I have recommendations that will allow you to look and feel your best for your session. 

Once your session is booked, we will cover all of this in your pre-session consultation.

 Plan to bathe/braid/groom as if you were going to a show.  I'm pretty skilled at photoshop, but I cannot make a dirty horse appear clean.  I do recommend professional grooming or an assistant to help prepare your horse, so you can stay clean for your session. Before beginning your horses beatification process, it's good to give them a playful lunge and a hay snack to set the stage for a cooperative photo session. After all, they are 1200-pound toddlers!

I keep a close eye on the forecast in the days leading up to our session, and I always allocate a make-up day in case we have to reschedule. Depending on what type of PNW "rain" we get, sometimes we can work around the showers without getting soaked. Ultimately if the weather isn't cooperating we just reschedule to your make-up day. 

The best location is usually where your horse lives! Most farms or boarding stables have plenty of outdoor spaces that will make for beautiful photos. If your horse is a seasoned trail horse or traveller who isn't swayed by much, we can get creative with fun haul-in locations.  I prefer to schedule my photo sessions for the 2 hours before sunset, or in the hours after sunrise. This offers us the best light to work with. 

Yes! I love taking Senior Photos! Senior Sessions run like a regular portrait session, and while your horse will be featured in the majority of the photos, we can include a few individual poses as well.

Yes! I encourage you and anyone with a special bond with the horse to consider being in the photos, including children over the age of 5. During our planning session, we can discuss what the sessions main focus should be, mainly the horse themselves, your relationship together, or a combination of both.

Well behaved dogs are always welcome! We can even incorporate them into a few photos. 

A horse-savvy friend or family member is wonderful to have around during your photo session! From holding horses to fixing stray hairs and getting ears up, having someone there to put you at ease and add to the fun and flow is always encouraged. 

Sessions include all horses owned or leased by the client and members of their household, within the allotted time frame of the session. If you have a big herd, no problem! We can discuss options at your planning session to accommodate your needs.

I'm so very sorry. A horses only flaw is that we will most likely outlive them. I do provide honorable end of life sessions for a special rate, and will work to fit you into my schedule on short notice. These sessions hold a special place for me, it is an honor to provide these images and this service that really speak to our beautiful bond with our horses.
